ARTIST STATEMENT

Whether I am painting landscape, still life or something else, my goal is to find something beautiful in ordinary and familiar things. It may be the way light reflects off of an object or interesting shadow patterns, the mystery of Chiaroscuro or the pure joy in a childs face. My hope is for the viewer to feel a personal connection with my work through shared experience in these familiar things.

My work is representational and mostly in oils though I also work in pastel, colored pencil and graphite. I am self-taught with the exception of several workshops through the years. My latest accomplishments are 1st Place in Painting – 2019 ECAG show, 1st Place in Painting and 2nd Place in Works Under Glass – 39thAnnual SAC’s Gallery Members Show (April 2019) .
