ARTIST STATEMENT

Cheryl Teel was raised in and currently lives in Titus, Alabama.  Although throughout her school years she could always draw, she didn’t have any formal art lessons until her sister gifted her lessons at a gallery in Wetumka for her 30thbirthday.  Several years later, she joined the teaching staff at that gallery, teaching art to children for several years.  Teaching really stretched her to try types of art that she would not have otherwise tried – like Pen and Ink.  Her favorite mediums are oils and colored pencil, but she will work with any medium.

 

She has done several commissioned pieces in the past, and is looking forward to getting back to doing commission work again in the near future.  Though she has not had time to practice her art for several years, she recently opened up her own “studio” at her house teaching one class a week.  Her class size is small, but she is loving getting back to teaching something she is so passionate for.
